OPGW
Optisk jordledning (også kjent som en OPGW eller i IEEE- standarden, er en optisk fiberkompositt for jordledning) som brukes i overheadledninger. En slik line kombinerer funksjonene til jording og kommunikasjon.
En OPGW-line inneholder en rørformet struktur med en eller flere optiske fibre i , omgitt av lag av stål og aluminiumtråd. Den ledende delen av kabelen tjener til å binde tilstøtende tårn til jord, og skjermer høyspenningsledere fra lynnedslag. De optiske fiberene i kabelen kan brukes til høyhastighets overføring av data, enten for el-verktøyets egne formål med beskyttelse og styring av overføringslinjen, for bruken av egen tale- og datakommunikasjon, eller kan leies eller selges til tredje part som tjener som høyhastighets fiberforbindelse mellom brukerdestinasjon.
Den optiske fiberen er en isolator og er immun mot kraftoverføringslinjen og lyninduksjon, ekstern elektrisk støy og kryssprøve. Vanligvis inneholder OPGW-kabler single- mode optiske fibre med lavt transmisjonstap, slik at langdistanseoverføring ved høye hastigheter.
Det ytre utseendet til OPGW ligner på aluminium-leder stålforsterket kabel (ACSR) som vanligvis brukes til jordtråd.
