Quality work for long-term growth

Constantly working with improvement processes is something Amokabel's Quality Manager, Olaf, is passionate about. His responsibilities include ensuring the quality of the cables produced as well as the consumables purchased. He sees himself as the customer's advocate, as a significant part of his role is to ensure that customer requirements are met in accordance with the established guidelines and standards.

- Much of what I do is about working preventively, as we constantly strive to avoid any product defects. We need to continuously review our improvement processes, and this is something I do in collaboration with our operators in the business. It's important for me to be able to provide strong support to my colleagues in production, says Olaf.

"Minimizing environmental impact"

Olaf began his career at Amokabel as a machine operator 8 years ago. In 2019, he took on the role of a quality technician and, in 2023, became the Quality Manager. Having worked in large corporations before, he appreciates the close-knit atmosphere within the Amokabel group and the company's environmental focus.

- We feel like one big family where everyone lends a hand with both big and small matters. The proximity to decision-making is something I appreciate. I am also very proud that Amokabel actively works towards minimizing environmental impact by investing in solar, wind, and water. When nature thrives, so do we as humans," he says.

 

What are your biggest challenges at work?

My biggest challenge is that changes often need to be made, and it’s important to find the best way to explain and motivate why a change is necessary. Another challenge is handling claims, where having a keen sense of tact is crucial to addressing our customers effectively. It’s essential to be highly solution-oriented and maintain a strong customer focus when working with this.

 

What is the best thing about your job?

The best part is driving through improvement proposals, and we are a close-knit team that always helps each other. It is very rewarding when customers reach out and express satisfaction because we resolved their issues smoothly and efficiently.
