Focus on procurement and planning
A workplace with an open atmosphere where people truly care for each other, that's how Julia Gröschl describes her employer Amokabel, where she works with purchasing, planning, and safety. Her tasks include planning the purchase of consumables, negotiating prices, scheduling for janitors, and ensuring that the maintenance department has what they need on the shelves, both in terms of spare parts and consumables.
- I like that my work is varied. I purchase everything from cleaning products to materials and spare parts. Purchasing involves a lot of comparing different suppliers and negotiating prices. Besides purchasing and planning, I also work with safety in the company and develop various routines. But that's the charm, that no day is the same as another and that's the best part of this job, says Julia.
"Advantage of working closely with other functions"
Julia began her career at Amokabel in January 2022 as a machine operator and was offered a position in purchasing and planning in our maintenance department in the fall of 2023.
- I really enjoy it here. At Amokabel, every individual counts, and you get the opportunity to have an impact, which means you have great opportunities to grow within the company. It also creates a sense of togetherness and contributes to a community among us employees. It is a great advantage to work closely with other functions as it provides insight into the different parts of the company. That is something I greatly benefit from in my role, she says.
What are your biggest challenges at work?
I would say that my biggest challenge right now is finding my own structure since I have taken over parts of purchasing, planning, and safety work from our maintenance manager. Previously, our maintenance manager had all the responsibility for this, but now with our growth, an additional position was simply needed. So, of course, it takes time to get into all the tasks and find your own way of working.
What is the best part of working with what you do?
My position is very varied, and I meet a lot of people. I enjoy having a social job where I juggle many things at once. Something I really see as a great advantage is that decisions are always close since we are a very flat organization, which I like.
