In 1995, Amo Kraftkabel AB developed a groundbreaking new design of Covered overhead line, inspired by experiences from Australia. Since then, the product has been continuously improved, making Amokabel a world-leading manufacturer of Covered Conductors. We supply a wide range of configurations, with a selection presented here on our website. In Sweden, the standard covers up to 52 kV, while in international projects we deliver high-voltage applications up to 132 kV. We can manufacture special cables in several different designs: solid, flexible, or extra flexible conductors; bare copper wire, tinned copper, or flexible aluminum conductors, from class 1 to class 5. For low temperatures (-60 °C) or high temperatures (+180 °C). Shielding with braid or foil, armoring with steel wire or steel tape. We can produce cables with cross-sections up to 2,000 mm² and diameters up to 100 mm. We offer several different insulation materials such as PVC, Polyolefin, XLPE, TPE, PE, TPU, EPR, and silicone.

Covered conductors powering reliability in demanding environments

As electrification accelerates, power networks must deliver more higher capacity, stronger reliability, and smarter investments. In a recent 52 kV project in a Nordic mountain region, two parallel lines using Amokabel covered conductors replace existing lines: ⚡ Capacity increase from ~23 MW to up to 35 MW per line ⚡ Built-in redundancy – one line can carry up to 46–50 MW ⚡ High resilience in snow, ice, and forest environments ⚡ Optimized total cost based on EBR models The conclusion is clear: performance and cost no longer need to be trade-offs. Covered conductors enables compact design, reduces vegetation risks, and allows maintenance without full outages critical in demanding environments.
